Anyone who has watched her TV interviews or documentaries will know her passion for animals and trees, and may have seen her pet African grey parrot &#8216;Sweetie&#8217;. This bird is her pride and joy, keeping her endlessly entertained, and PSUK was instrumental in finding this bird for her one Christmas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sad to report the passing of\u00a0<strong>David Coombes\u00a0<\/strong>on 31 December 2025, peacefully in his sleep. David joined the Parrot Society via his local branch in Luton in 1973, and served as Secretary and Editor of the magazine from\u00a0<strong>1986 &#8211; 2001,\u00a0<\/strong>and Chairman from\u00a0<strong>2011 &#8211; 2014.\u00a0<\/strong>He was also Show Organiser for many of those years, and was a familiar face behind the PSUK stand at Stafford. His commitment and dedication to the Society and to parrot keeping were strong and constant, but in latter years he withdraw from active involvement as mobility issues took their toll. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered, and our sympathies go out to his widow\u00a0<strong>Jacqueline,\u00a0<\/strong>and his family &#8211; particularly son\u00a0<strong>Paul,\u00a0<\/strong>who was a regular attendee at Stafford, assisting with setting up and dismantling tables, and security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\u00a0The winter migration season is upon us, so with it the risk of Avian Influenza outbreaks increases. A number of areas across the UK have reported cases in poultry flocks, so don&#8217;t forget the precautions and regulations affecting outdoor parrots. Do not fall for it, and use only our SHOP link for payment! In spite of all our reporting and attempts to block this scam, the problem persists.
